Bucky for Chrome
Look up lot size, zone, permitted uses, and a sourced buildable envelope from the property page you already have open, or from the address bar.
Bucky for Chrome shows sourced buildability facts for the property on the current browser tab, then lets you act on them without leaving the page. The product page is Bucky for Chrome. This guide describes version 0.5.2.
Chrome 116 or newer is required. That is the version that can open the side panel from the toolbar click.
Install
Install Bucky for Chrome from the Chrome Web Store, or use Add to Chrome on the product page. There is no separate store purchase. Bucky is the seller. Personal is $29 a month (200 lookups). Professional is $99 a month (1,000 lookups, then $0.10). See Plans and site lookups.
When the install finishes, Chrome opens a short welcome page on buckybuild.com. An update does not open it again.
Sign in
A sourced snapshot works without an account, subject to a daily limit. When you are signed out, hover over the Bucky icon in the toolbar to see how many lookups you have left today. Sign in to save sites, ask questions, and look up without a daily limit.
There are two ways to sign in:
- In the side panel. Choose Continue with Google, or Sign in with email. If you are already signed in to buckybuild.com in this browser, Bucky uses that session and does not ask again.
- On the product page. While signed in to buckybuild.com, open Bucky for Chrome and choose Sign in the extension with this account.
To switch accounts, open the Account card in the panel and choose Use another account.
Open a lookup
Bucky does not run in the background. A lookup starts in one of these ways:
- Click the Bucky icon.
- Press Alt+Shift+B.
- Right-click and choose Look up this page in Bucky. If you highlighted an address, choose Look up “…” in Bucky to look up the highlighted text.
- Type
buckyin the address bar, press space, then type an address. Pick a suggestion and press Enter. The side panel opens on that site.
The side panel then shows the snapshot. On a tab you have not invoked Bucky on, the panel asks you to invoke it. It does not keep showing the previous tab.
Add a site to a project from the keyboard
The Add this site to a project shortcut looks up the page, then opens the
panel on the save step. It has no key by default, so it cannot clash with a
shortcut you already use. To assign one, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts
and set a key for Bucky's Add this site to a project.
The save step lists your recent projects, with the last project you saved to first.
The side panel
The panel has three tabs:

Screen around this site opens the Bucky workspace on its screening view, framed on the site you looked up. There you set a buy box and Bucky ranks the nearby parcels that match it. See Saved searches.

Where a city is not live, the snapshot places the address and says so. It does not guess. Published coverage, including the gaps, is at coverage.
A dated copy of the listing
Listings come down when a property sells, and the saved link then leads nowhere. So when you look up a page with the icon, the shortcut, or the right-click menu, Bucky takes an image of the visible part of the page.
The image is uploaded only if you then save that site to a project. It lands in the project's documents with the date it was taken and the page link. If you do not save, the image stays on your device and is discarded when the tab moves to another page or closes.
What is sent
The address is sent when you look up a site. Coordinates are sent when the page exposes them, or after you pick an address suggestion. Your account email is sent only if you sign in. Page title, URL, and text are sent only when you send an Ask question, and only the text the panel showed you. Highlighted text is sent only when you choose Save selection to Bucky and pick a project. The page link and the page image are sent only when you save a site to a project.
Apart from that page image, Bucky does not upload listing photos, prices, agent names, or page HTML. The extension runs no script on pages in the background and reads only a tab you invoke it on. Bucky does not sell this data. The privacy policy is buckybuild.com/en/privacy.
